Microsoft will end support for the Mac version of the Internet Explorer (IE) browser by the end of this year. This move follows the company’s decision to cease development support for this browser back in June 2003.
Although users can still download the Mac IE browser from the Microsoft website, the company recommends switching to a different browser, such as Apple’s Safari.
According to observers, the end of support for the Mac IE browser has surprised many, but it is not seen as shocking. It is known that the development process for this browser has nearly stopped at version 5, transitioning into a product support phase.
People are only surprised that in the current landscape, the IE browser faces fierce competition from Firefox, and ideally, to revive its reputation, Microsoft should have continued investing in Mac IE instead of “phasing it out.”
