An eagle unexpectedly attacked a drone at an altitude of over 700 meters, causing the device to crash to the ground.
The “dramatic” attack at an altitude exceeding 700 meters was captured by the drone’s surveillance camera. The drone operator shared a video of the incident.
The video shows the eagle diving towards the drone flying over the Kamchatka Peninsula in Eastern Russia.
The eagle used its talons to attack the drone. It grabbed the drone and dropped it to the ground. Afterward, the eagle inspected the device, and upon hearing a “beep” from the drone, it flew away.
The operator had to use GPS coordinates from the recording device to locate the drone.
“An eagle ‘stole’ my drone. It dragged the drone to a swamp, so I had to search using the GPS coordinates from the recording device. The drone may have fallen from a height of about 700 meters. Fortunately, the bird was not injured when it collided with the propeller,” said the device operator.

The eagle in the video belongs to the Saker Falcon species, the second-largest falcon in the world after the Gyrfalcon, commonly found in semi-desert areas of Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
Saker Falcons are predatory birds measuring between 45–57 cm in length, with a wingspan of up to 126 cm. They can fly at speeds exceeding 321 km/h when hunting prey.
