Mitsubishi Electric Corporation (Japan) has recently launched a product named DiamondTouch, a high-tech computer screen designed to function as a tabletop.
With this screen, users can operate the computer without needing a mouse or keyboard. Users will sit around the table and use their fingers to point at the screen (which acts as the tabletop) to create and control pre-programmed virtual objects. The system can distinguish between each person’s fingers thanks to electrical connections linked to the seating.
DiamondTouch can be utilized for educational purposes, gaming, and other fields that require direct and rapid interaction, making it especially convenient for the elderly and those who are not proficient with traditional computers. The price is approximately $10,000 each.
