Due to travel restrictions during the pandemic and the need for social distancing, most people around the world primarily work and live at home. In response, engineers have proposed various innovative solutions to transform living and working spaces into mobile versions.
Encho Enchev, a 3D designer, introduces the concept of a futuristic mobile house that can move across any terrain with the help of six mechanical legs and stop at desired locations. According to Enchev, his design inspiration comes from the increasing popularity of remote work and a love for mountains and lakes. He observes that many people wish to leave the city for less populated areas closer to nature, yet they face challenges due to the lack of amenities and rugged terrain.
In addition to focusing on the two most important factors of functionality and practicality in house design, Enchev also considers weight and energy. The mobile house operates on an electric motor but is also equipped with a backup diesel generator in case of malfunction.
The house has a box-shaped frame supported by six mechanical legs, resembling a design from a science fiction movie. It can traverse almost any terrain, including hills and ravines. The mechanical legs feature a 5 cm thick anti-slip rubber layer and two sharp spikes underneath that easily grip the ground. The mobile house can set its foundation, elevate, lower, or press against the ground.
The interior design of the house incorporates advanced technology. The windows use smart glass that can block sunlight when necessary. Enchev also utilizes automated furnishings and smart technology devices. By integrating storage space, a water tank, and energy batteries, the mobile house allows occupants to live comfortably in remote locations. Although still in the conceptual stage, Enchev’s design is expected to gain popularity in the future.
