New Security Screening System at San Francisco International Airport |
A modern security screening system is currently being tested at San Francisco International Airport. This equipment allows passengers to pass through without removing their shoes, taking items out of their pockets, or emptying their bags.
Developed by General Electric, this system was created through the integration of multiple computers and scanning technologies. It enables passengers to go through the automated checkpoint in about 20 seconds. Although a specific pricing has not yet been established, the new security system has the potential to save costs by requiring fewer security personnel and making passengers feel more comfortable.
The monitoring process begins when passengers press a button that detects explosives while checking their luggage or obtaining tickets. Next, they will walk through a transparent, circular gate capable of detecting weapons or bombs. After that, they will step onto a scanning machine to detect hazardous chemicals or dangerous items…
The control system has been installed at San Francisco Airport for several weeks for testing. Once finalized, the system will be rolled out for use at airports across the United States, replacing current X-ray equipment.
