For an amateur like Guilong Charles Cheng, that moment could be considered a lifetime masterpiece.
An eagle is being chased by a small bird in the sky. The female eagle is learning to fly and getting accustomed to her surroundings. She mistakenly lands on a tree near the nest of a small bird in Massachusetts, USA.
The small birds gather together, chirping loudly to drive the eagle away. One brave little bird follows the eagle closely to ensure it does not return to the nest.
The daring little bird perched on the eagle’s head.
After much effort, the little bird finally managed to climb onto the back and head of the eagle, riding the sky’s dominant predator for a short distance.
The little bird is considered very daring and bold for daring to confront the eagle, which is significantly larger than it.
This small bird has a red crown on its head, but it is often concealed and only becomes visible when threatened by an enemy.
Guilong Charles Cheng, a 43-year-old amateur photographer with a passion for wildlife, was fortunate enough to capture this moment in nature.
Guilong Charles Cheng said: “It is rare for a small bird to fly right above the head of an eagle. It is also in danger while on top of such a notoriously fierce bird. The red crown on the bird’s head clearly shows that it feels threatened by the predator. I have been observing adult bald eagles building nests since January, incubating eggs, and raising two chicks until they grow up and leave the nest.”
The American Bald Eagle can grow to a length of over one meter and weigh between 3 to 6.3 kg, with a wingspan of 1.8 to 2.3 meters. It is a notorious predator in the sky. The bald eagle is a protected species in the United States. Anyone found killing this bird can face fines of up to $250,000.
