According to the Daily Mail, on October 21, a man named David Nugent-Malone was walking his pet dog Jake along a road in the village of Mugdock, Stirlingshire, Scotland, when he encountered a strange sight.
The ground was continuously rising and falling.
The ground in the forest suddenly began to rise and fall continuously, as if a layer of air beneath it was pushing it up and down. This phenomenon occurred during Storm Babet, which was sweeping across the UK, causing severe consequences due to heavy rain and flooding.
David told a BBC reporter: “We have passed through that area hundreds of times but have never seen anything like this before.”
He confirmed that the surrounding forest was relatively quiet after the strongest winds had blown through the night before, on October 20. However, that particular spot seemed to be a place where “the wind was concentrated, causing the ground to rise”, he added. Of course, this is just David’s speculation, and he too was perplexed by the sight.
The man posted the clip on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption: “This morning, the Earth is taking a deep breath.” The video shows the dog Jake seeming to be confused by the strange occurrence beneath his feet. The animal kept jumping from one spot to another to avoid being lifted, creating a dizzying effect.
The video surfaced on social media as Storm Babet showed no signs of weakening. Torrential rains continued to batter much of the UK on October 21.
