Killing living beings is a grave sin!
A fisherman brought fish to the market to sell. A monk saw him and said:
– Every day you kill living beings; this is a serious sin! Would you be willing to let the temple perform a ritual of repentance for you?
The fisherman asked: – What does repentance involve?
The monk replied: – Sell the fish to the temple at a low price so that we can release them back into the pond.
The fisherman responded:
– Yes! But please let the temple pay me five coins for each fish, anything less is not acceptable.
The monk exclaimed:
– Oh my Buddha! Why is it so expensive! Historically, the temple has always bought fried fish from the food stalls for only three coins each, let alone fish that haven’t been fried yet.
