The residents of Laverton, Western Australia have recently discovered a mysterious and frightening creature that looks “like it stepped out of a horror movie.”
The person who discovered this creature quickly filmed a video and shared it on TikTok with the caption “A creature from hell.”
The footage shows the mysterious creature, which has a bizarre appearance that blends features of an insect and a scorpion, displaying aggressive behavior. As it moves, its tail seems to jab into the ground.
This creature also appears to have wings and long hind legs, allowing it to move back and forth in a menacing manner.

“Clearly, this is a creature we’ve only seen in horror films from the 1990s,” one shocked social media user commented.
“It reminds me of the evil vine monster from the movie Jumanji,” another wrote. Some described it as “a monster with a gun and smoking a cigar.”
Given its strange appearance, one user commented in fear: “I want to go home, I don’t want to stay in Australia anymore.”

So what exactly is this frightening creature? Entomologist Nikolai Tatarnic has the answer.
“This is a stick insect, belonging to the Phasmatidae family. Its shape may be bizarre, but it is not venomous,” Tatarnic told News.com.au, adding that: “In fact, Phasmids are found all over Australia, but most people do not notice them due to their exceptional camouflage abilities.”
