Images and videos of a mysterious streak of light moving across the sky in the Magadan region of Russia have quickly spread on social media, causing confusion among many who immediately associate it with UFO sightings, while others speculate that it may be a meteor falling to Earth.
The videos show a bright streak across the sky in the Magadan region, recorded by local residents on December 28 and posted by a local news channel.
As the images rapidly circulated on social media, people speculated whether it could be an unidentified flying object (UFO) or a comet passing by our planet.
In the comments below the video, there are numerous theories about what the strange object in the sky could be. Some questioned whether it was a rocket launched from the Sea of Okhotsk, while others suggested it might be debris from a falling satellite burning up in the atmosphere. However, the most common assumption seems to be that it is a large meteor hurtling toward Earth.

The speculation about the strange light comes in the context of previous meteorite fragments being found in Kolyma, in the Far East of Russia.
One of the most famous meteorites is the Seymchan pallasite. This very rare type of meteorite—a massive metallic block weighing nearly 300 kg—was discovered in 1967 in the Khekandya River area.
The meteorite contains olivine crystals and is believed to be a fragment of one of the ancient planets that, according to various estimates, entered Earth’s atmosphere at the dawn of the solar system’s formation and broke apart into a meteor shower. Therefore, it is hypothesized that the Seymchan pallasite, containing extraterrestrial gemstones, could be as old as the Sun and is the oldest celestial body to have fallen to our planet.

Over the years, these strange meteorites have appeared around the world and have been auctioned off. Some of them have been sold in London at Christie’s auction house.
