In 2018, Indonesian media was abuzz with the strange news of a woman who had been declared missing nearly two years earlier after being swept away by strong waves. Astonishingly, this woman was found alive, discovered unconscious on a beach. Notably, the clothing she wore was identical to the outfit she had on the day she disappeared.
According to Odditycentral, on January 8, 2017, Nining Sunarsih, 52, was swimming at Cipetus Beach in West Java (Indonesia) when she was swept out to sea by powerful waves.
At that time, witnesses reported hearing the woman scream and wave her arms for help, but no one was able to rescue her in time. Subsequent search and rescue operations found no signs of her.
Nining was missing for a long time after being swept away.
One week after the tragic disappearance, a body was discovered in the area. Authorities requested Nining’s family to identify it. Although the body was severely deformed, Nining’s relatives believed it was not her because they could not find a distinctive birthmark on the abdomen. Additionally, the fingernails of the corpse looked very different.
Subsequently, authorities requested DNA testing on the discovered body to confirm if it was the missing woman. They compared the DNA of the body with that of Nining’s son and found that they did not match.
However, with search efforts yielding no results and the likelihood of Nining Sunarsih being alive very low, authorities ceased their search and declared her dead.
Nining’s family never accepted this and believed she was still alive. Eventually, their faith was rewarded with a miracle.
Nining returned to her family, sparking curiosity with her story.
However, at the beginning of July 2018, Nining’s uncle informed the family of a dream he had where he saw Nining on a beach in Palabuhanratu, near where she had encountered the accident. Initially, the uncle did not pay much attention to the dream, but after having similar dreams multiple times, he shared them with the family and decided to search for their long-lost relative.
Nining’s family began searching for a whole day but could not find any trace of her. However, they continued their search throughout the night, and by the next morning, around 4 AM, they found Nining unconscious, her body covered in sand. Strangely, she was wearing the same clothes she had on when she went missing, including a yellow floral dress and black pants.
The mysterious and suspicious details of this strange story remain unexplained after four years. However, Nining’s family seems unconcerned. For them, her return after such a long time “is a miracle from the Almighty God.” Above all, the most important thing is that Nining is still alive.
