For science enthusiasts who regularly follow foreign programs, especially those from the United States or Australia, Adam Savage is likely a familiar name. A specialist in various creative fields such as graphic design, animation, and stage design, Adam gained more recognition after hosting the famous MythBusters show on the Discovery Channel—where science became more accessible and understandable than ever, thanks to his engaging presentation style.
Currently, in addition to his usual creative work, Adam runs a large YouTube channel with nearly 5.8 million subscribers. This is where he creates some of the most “outlandish” inventions and conducts the most imaginative scientific experiments in the most entertaining ways. Among his videos, perhaps the most famous is when he built an enormous nerf gun (a toy gun that shoots foam darts) capable of firing 1,000 foam darts continuously. Posted in 2018, this video has now attracted nearly 40 million views and holds the record on Adam’s YouTube channel.

Recently, the former host of MythBusters decided to “play” with the nerf gun once again and created a special device resembling a double-barreled gun that can be worn on the user’s head. Remarkably, with just one trigger pull, both barrels can fire simultaneously at a single target.
To be precise, Adam Savage does not entirely create devices like this from scratch. Instead, he modifies existing nerf gun models, upgrading them and adding more powerful features. Typically, modders like Adam aim to enhance the speed, quantity, or range of the darts, and this product is no exception.
Returning to the nerf gun, Adam has created a double-barreled helmet device capable of firing over 50 darts in an instant.
The original nerf gun model that Adam chose is called D-DART Pro, which is essentially a massive ammo belt worn on the user’s wrist and can fire continuously for 27 shots. By creating a double-barreled device, Adam can double the number of darts fired in a single shot with just one trigger pull. Transitioning the gun from the wrist to the head and adding a laser sight allows him to “pick off” targets with greater accuracy.
So how exactly did Adam Savage transform a standard nerf gun into a head-mounted double-barreled device capable of firing over 50 darts in the blink of an eye? Check out the video below.
