While the American MK19 gun fires at a rate of 60 rounds per minute, the new weapon developed by Australia boasts a staggering firing speed of 240,000 rounds per minute.
In February 2006, the U.S. military is set to test a new infantry weapon designed by Metal Storm, an Australian company, capable of firing at an astonishing rate of 240,000 rounds per minute.
This weapon comes in various forms, ranging from a 9 mm handgun to machine guns and grenade launchers.

International military officials believe that this new infantry weapon could revolutionize infantry warfare.
Currently, the MK19 is the fastest infantry weapon in the United States, with a firing rate of 60 rounds per minute; this new weapon’s firing speed is 4,000 times greater.
Engineers at Metal Storm suggest that the firepower of this new weapon could create a wall of bullets capable of intercepting incoming enemy fire within a range of 50 meters.
