Are you confused about how to deal with a tattoo featuring your ex’s name? American chemists have developed a series of smart inks that can disappear with just one laser treatment.
Laser treatment has long been used to remove unwanted tattoos, but it often involves multiple complex steps. This process can be expensive, painful, and sometimes it does not completely remove the tattoo.
The innovative technology from American chemists employs inks that have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, and medical devices. Because this ink is easily absorbed by the body, it has never been used in tattooing before.
A team led by Rox Anderson at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA, has found a way to overcome this limitation by encapsulating the ink in tiny polymer particles, which have a diameter of only about 1-3 micrometers. These particles will be injected into the skin to create the tattoo. To remove unwanted designs, a laser will break apart the particles, releasing the dye into safe areas of the skin, and it will gradually fade away.
