On May 26, at the Ho Chi Minh City Ear – Nose – Throat Hospital, Dr. Goh Yau Hong from Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre, Singapore, introduced and transferred the new Pillar Procedure technique for treating obstructive sleep apnea and snoring to the hospital’s physicians.
Patients will have a three-piece polyester support system inserted into the soft palate muscle structure, which reduces the vibration of the soft palate (the cause of snoring) and helps keep the airway unobstructed by preventing the soft palate from collapsing. This is a minimally invasive technique that is preferable to tissue removal, with a procedure time of approximately 10-30 minutes.
