During an on-site statement with the inter-sectoral delegation led by the Quang Binh Provincial Forest Protection Sub-Department, Ms. Ho Thi Vinh reported that she saw a tiger from behind, with black stripes mixed with reddish-brown, about 30 meters away.
Recently, the Quang Binh Provincial Forest Protection Sub-Department organized an inter-sectoral survey team consisting of: the International Wildlife Conservation Organization (FFI), the Quang Ninh District Forest Protection Department, the Quang Ninh District Protective Forest Management Board, the Lang Mo Border Guard Station, the Quang Ninh District Police, and Ms. Ho Thi Vinh (the eyewitness of the tiger) leading the way.
The inter-sectoral delegation takes a group photo before entering the forest.
The survey team followed trails in the area of the Diu Do Forest (Truong Son Commune, Quang Ninh District) where the tiger was reported to have appeared, capturing photos and collecting traces and relevant samples.
At the scene, Ms. Ho Thi Vinh recounted that on June 3rd, she and three other women entered the forest to collect rattan. While she was looking for rattan vines to harvest, she spotted a tiger from behind, with a tail that had black and reddish-brown stripes, approximately 30 meters away from her.
At the scene, Ms. Vinh recounts her sighting of the tiger.
Terrified, she ran back to the camp to inform everyone, but no one believed her. However, later, while collecting leaves to stir-fry for food, Ms. Tha from the group encountered the tiger at a distance of about 20 meters.
From Ms. Vinh’s account, the survey team established GPS coordinates for professional tasks, marking the tree stump in the area where the tiger was sighted for research purposes.
Marking the area where the tiger was seen.
Photographing and collecting evidence regarding the tiger.
On the same day, the Quang Ninh District Protective Forest Management Board reported that they had removed 46 traps set in the protective forest in the area where the tiger was sighted.
As previously reported, after several residents of Truong Son Commune reported seeing a tiger, relevant authorities in Quang Binh Province and Quang Ninh District actively intervened to verify the information and advised the public to remain vigilant and keep a safe distance. They also called on residents to report any sightings of wildlife resembling a tiger to the forest protection unit and relevant authorities for appropriate measures, strictly prohibiting the hunting, trapping, or illegal capture of wildlife.
