Summer in India is famously hot, with temperatures sometimes reaching 44oC. Spending too much time outdoors without proper skin protection can damage the skin and even lead to illnesses.
A group of students from the Indian Institute of Technology has developed an innovative idea to help people protect their skin from the harsh summer sun. They have invented an umbrella that can shield users from harmful ultraviolet rays. Unlike regular umbrellas, this one is made from special polyester fibers that can block harmful sunlight.
Sagar Jain, a student at the Indian Institute of Technology, stated: “Using ordinary umbrellas, users cannot avoid the harmful rays of sunlight. In contrast, our product can block 99% of these harmful rays. Therefore, users, especially in countries with hot climates, will be able to avoid adverse effects on their skin pigmentation and reduce the risk of skin cancer“.
This special umbrella is currently in the testing phase, and the inventors hope it will be well received by customers.
