The Hypothesis of Nuclear War on Mars Has Been Around for Quite Some Time.
Recently, an American physicist has “rekindled” this topic with some startling claims. Did Martian civilization really get wiped out by nuclear war? Did Martians come to Earth and devastate our world with this type of annihilating weapon?
Evidence believed to be from a nuclear explosion and “The Face on Mars”.
Was Martian Civilization Wiped Out?
One of the most attention-grabbing statements regarding nuclear war on Mars comes from NASA computer engineer Vince DiPietro, who, along with his colleague Gregory Molenaar, conducted research on the “Face on Mars” in the 1970s.
In a 1998 paper titled “Mars: The Mysterious Planet”, DiPietro noted that the element xenon 129, a second-generation radioactive component produced during nuclear fission, was found in abundance in the Martian atmosphere.
Nuclear fission produces iodine 129 with a half-life of 17 million years, releasing beta particles and stable, permanent xenon 129. Is there evidence of nuclear fission from a bomb explosion on Mars? This is a crucial question that needs answering, as it focuses on the possibility that Martians may have destroyed everything except themselves while humans were still living in caves, hunting mammoths for food.
DiPietro’s claims were inspired by research from physicist John Brandenburg of the American Physical Society. He is a pioneer in investigating whether a race, or even multiple races, on Mars were annihilated in a massacre due to nuclear weapons.
In 2014, his work gained worldwide media attention. On November 21 of that year, the UK’s famous newspaper, Daily Mail, published a sensational article titled: “Ancient Martian civilization was wiped out by aliens with nuclear bombs and they may have attacked Earth…”
Jonathan O’Callaghan, the article’s author, stated: “At the 2014 Fall Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society in Illinois, plasma physicist Dr. John Brandenburg presented his theory that an ancient civilization on Mars was wiped out by a nuclear attack from another alien race.
He claimed that two groups of ancient Martians, Cydonia and Utopia were massacred in the attack and evidence of this genocide can still be seen today.”
Indeed, Brandenburg provided details to support this: “The surface of Mars is covered by a thin layer of radioactive material, including uranium, thorium, and radioactive potassium. A nuclear explosion could have sent debris across the planet. In short, the hypothesis that Mars was the site of a planetary nuclear massacre needs thorough examination.”
Previously, in 2011, he first proposed that the red color of Mars could be a result of a thermonuclear explosion.
Mars, did a civilization ever get destroyed?
Did Martians Come to Earth?
Could the civilization on Mars have been destroyed in a catastrophic nuclear war in the distant past, as John Brandenburg hypothesized? If so, it is not far-fetched to suggest that Martians fled their world to seek refuge on our planet, possibly even creating settlements on the Moon.
It is also possible that aggressive Martians, after settling on Earth, devastated our landscape in ways similar to how they did with their own world, albeit not on a planetary scale. Fortunately, they seem to have only used tactical nuclear weapons, leading to the destruction of the cities they built and their own people.
We do not know for sure what or who instigated nuclear war on Earth thousands of years ago. Much of it is speculation. We have very little, if any, documentation of such disasters during the early stages of human civilization.
However, the discovery of the “Face on Mars” in the 1970s sparked interest and controversy surrounding the possibility that Mars could be a world not so different from ours, even home to humanoid beings.
According to Brandenburg, Mars once had an Earth-like atmosphere suitable for the existence of both plants and animals. Any intelligent life would have reached a level of development comparable to that of ancient Egyptians on our planet.
This conclusion is drawn from his analysis of two regions on the Red Planet: Cydonia, where the so-called “Face on Mars” appeared, and a region called Galaxias Chaos.
Of course, to date, the massacre from nuclear war on Mars, or even that which may have occurred on Earth, remains solely a hypothesis of Brandenburg, even though he is not the first to mention the possibility that the Solar System once experienced nuclear wars. The mysteries of the Red Planet may only be unraveled when humanity sets foot on Mars in the not-so-distant future.
