With the theme “Unlocking the Power of Generative Artificial Intelligence,” AI4VN 2024 opened on August 23, attracting thousands of registrations.
The Vietnam Artificial Intelligence Day (AI4VN) 2024 took place at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, featuring four main activities: AI Summit, AI Workshop, AI Expo, and AI Awards.
The event kicked off with four workshops (AI Workshop) in the morning, covering topics such as: Automation and AI; The application of generative artificial intelligence in small and medium enterprises in Vietnam; Data centers and AI Cloud; AI applications in the healthcare sector.
Opening the workshops was a keynote speech by Mr. Phinith Chanthalangsy, Senior Advisor and Program Manager of Social Sciences and Humanities at the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, who presented on “Global Dialogue on Ethics in Artificial Intelligence: What Are the Current Threats?”
Following the keynote, speakers and AI experts presented various papers and participated in discussions. Here, trends in the development and application of generative AI, stories about data and cloud computing infrastructure, and the era of precision oncology will be updated. Discussions will focus on “unlocking” solutions for current challenges and leveraging the strengths of this technology for Vietnam.
Concluding the workshop was a presentation on “Developing and Applying Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Vietnam” from representatives of the National University of Hanoi’s Law School. This topic analyzed global trends in managing and developing responsible AI, outlining the current state of the responsible AI policy framework and providing recommendations for Vietnam.
The AI Summit will commence at 2 PM on the same day, with live coverage on VnExpress. The event will feature participation from government leaders, ministries, major corporations, scientists, and the community interested in the development and application of AI both domestically and internationally, as well as universities and businesses.
At the forum, the real landscape along with the opportunities and challenges in applying generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) across various fields, and the potential of this technology for the future will be depicted.
The AI Summit will begin with welcome speeches from the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ambassador of Australia, the Ambassador of the United States, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Vietnam, followed by presentations from speakers representing domestic and international technology corporations.
“Global Trends in Artificial Intelligence Development” will be a highlight of the opening. Four experts from Google, Meta, and universities from Australia and South Korea will share an overview of global AI development trends and how countries are adapting and leveraging strengths from AI technology.
The domestic perspective will be presented by speakers who are leaders of major technology corporations from VinBigdata, FPT, and VNPT, sharing real stories about AI technology development within their organizations. Presentations will revolve around the themes of AI autonomy, “Make in Vietnam” AI development, and seeking breakthrough opportunities from GenAI, clarifying both the advantages and challenges of implementing AI in Vietnam.
The event will also feature the AI Awards 2024, honoring the top 5 projects demonstrating creativity in the application of AI within businesses and human life.

Throughout the day, the AI Expo exhibition space showcased AI products from various enterprises, institutes, and universities. Attendees had the opportunity to experience new AI applications available in the Vietnamese market.
The AI4VN event is directed by the Ministry of Science and Technology and organized by VnExpress, FPT Online, in collaboration with the Information Technology and Communication Clubs (FISU), starting from 2018.
After six years of organization, AI4VN has become an important national forum, gathering resources to successfully implement Vietnam’s National Strategy for Research, Development, and Application of Artificial Intelligence for the period 2020-2030.
Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Thủy, Chairman of FISU Vietnam, evaluated that the development of AI4VN has brought many highlights in supporting meetings and connections in directing and seeking collaborative solutions for the development of AI applications in the community of enterprises, organizations, and individuals. In addition to creating a technology market and connecting supply and demand, seeking investment sources, three AI ecosystems have been established and developed concerning training, research, and application.
