Oracle has announced that with the acquisition of Thor Technologies, a leading provider of cross-platform resource management solutions, and OctetString, a top provider of virtual directory software, it has significantly strengthened its suite of advanced access management and identity management products.
“Oracle is making substantial investments in developing its diverse identity management product system due to their critical importance to our customers,” said Thomas Kurian, Senior Vice President of Oracle Fusion Middleware. “With the acquisition of Thor Technologies and OctetString, Oracle is poised to deliver the most robust product suite integrating standard identity management technologies.”
Serving as the security backbone for Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle’s identity management program offers enterprises a comprehensive set of the highest standard identity management technologies. Combined with Oracle’s existing solutions and the technologies from Thor Technologies and OctetString, this software suite provides outstanding features for access management, identity governance, identity federation, user hierarchy, directory services, and web service governance.
As part of Oracle’s strategy to develop its identity management product system, these enhanced solutions will be integrated into the company’s application infrastructure, leading to reduced management costs, accelerated deployment cycles, and improved security features for customers.
Following the acquisition of Thor Technologies, Oracle has introduced the Oracle Xellerate Identity Provisioning solution (formerly known as Thor Xellerate), which enables the management of access rights and privileges through the entitlement lifecycle across various IT environments, including operating systems, systems, applications, and physical devices.
The benefits that Oracle Xellerate brings include enhanced security, improved regulatory compliance, streamlined operations, increased business responsiveness, and cost reduction.
Developed from the OctetString Virtual Directory Engine, Oracle Visual Directory allows organizations to quickly and easily link applications to multiple user identity sources within the enterprise. This virtual directory technology enables multi-directory consolidation, cryptographic unification across directories, and delegated cataloging features. It also provides “hot plug” capabilities for Oracle applications, allowing them to upgrade existing databases and directories to serve their identity data systems.
Oracle Xellerate Identity Provisioning and Oracle Virtual Directory are expected to be launched in the market later this year.
