Yesterday, Oracle Corporation launched a new enterprise search software under its own brand.
According to analysts, Oracle’s new software will act like “a barrel of oil” poured into an already hot search market dominated by Google.
The Secure Enterprise Search software from Oracle aims to assist businesses and organizations in searching for information across all resources, including databases, email systems, and other enterprise software.
Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle, officially introduced this software in the Japanese market yesterday. This move by the database software company aims to close the gap with Google, the dominant player in online search, which is on its way to capturing the PC search software market with Google Desktop Search.
“Google does not excel in personal information search, but on the other hand, it is highly capable of searching public data sources – the World Wide Web. However, what our new product can search is not what Google can find. That is personal data,” emphasized Ellison.
The executive chairman highlighted that this would be Oracle’s largest product launch of the year, demonstrating the increasing significance of the search market.
Other companies like Microsoft and Yahoo have also released and updated their own search products, all aimed at dethroning Google.
Moreover, our product is integrated with security solutions to ensure users only access the data they are authorized to view, Ellison stressed.
Oracle’s new search tool is set to officially launch in May. Currently, Oracle has not disclosed the price of this product.
