Regular consumption of orange and grapefruit juice may help prevent osteoporosis and other diseases, according to research conducted by scientists at Texas A&M University (USA).
The study found that laboratory mice that regularly consumed orange and grapefruit juice exhibited increased bone density and strength compared to those that did not drink these juices.
“We discovered that both orange juice and grapefruit juice enhance antioxidant activity, a process that contributes to increased bone density,” said Bhimu Patil, co-author of the study.
Antioxidants, found in vitamins, minerals, and natural fruits and vegetables, are believed to help combat cancer, heart disease, and stroke.
According to Patil, scientists need to focus more on researching the potential of antioxidants in preventing various diseases in humans.
