The latest version of the MacOS X operating system, 10.4.4, was announced today at MACWORLD. Users can download it from Apple’s website to update bug fixes and enhance performance for this X Tiger 10.4 version.
Apple recommends that users download and update to version 10.4.4, which includes the following features:
– SMB/CIFS and NFS network file services
– Wireless Bluetooth access
– Graphics, audio, and image processing cores, support for RAW file types including driver updates for ATI and NVIDIA graphics cards
– Spotlight indexing and search
– Updates for AppleScript, iChat, DVD Player, and Safari applications
– Dashboard widgets: Calendar and Stocks
– Software and Sync updates
– Compatibility with USB and FireWire devices as well as third-party applications
– Fixes for over 120 security vulnerabilities discovered in the previous version
In total, the bugs and updates from version 10.4.3 have been integrated, increasing the total number of improvements to nearly 500. Apple continues its development of operating systems specifically designed for its hardware, quietly competing with the “giant” Windows as the number of security vulnerabilities in Microsoft’s operating system continues to be discovered and exploited.
