Phase 1 includes the sections from Hanoi to Vinh and Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh City, which will be operational starting in 2032. The implementation of the Vinh to Nha Trang segment is expected to take place over a period of 10 years, from 2040 to 2050.
The North-South High-Speed Railway Project, or the North-South High-Speed Rail Project, is one of the strategic projects of Vietnam Railways (ĐSVN). This project was approved by Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng as part of the overall development plan for ĐSVN until 2020 and allows the investor, TRICC (Transport Consulting, Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company), to prepare an investment report and select consultants. Currently, both Japan and South Korea are involved in surveying and researching to develop the investment report. The North-South high-speed railway spans 1,508.6 km, which is 221.4 km shorter than the existing North-South railway at 1,730 km. The entire line will have 70 stations (including 50 passenger stations and 20 freight stations). It starts from Ngọc Hồi Station in Hanoi and ends at Thủ Thiêm Station in Ho Chi Minh City, with total investment for this project reaching up to 61.67 billion USD (equivalent to 1.4 million billion VND). |
