As every year, the Pantone Color Institute has announced the Color of the Year for 2024 – Peach Fuzz. This special color evokes feelings of warmth, empathy, and connection.
In a world experiencing significant turmoil and challenges, the Pantone Color Institute has announced that the Color of the Year 2024 is PANTONE 13-1023 “Peach Fuzz,” a soft and warm peach color that serves as a reminder for us to slow down and pay attention to ourselves and others.
The Color of the Year 2024 is PANTONE 13-1023 “Peach Fuzz,” a soft and warm peach color.
The charming name of this color reflects the emotions associated with it: the smooth peach, soft feathers, satin, and classic smooth silk, all conjuring images of the blend of pink and orange.
For Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Institute, Peach Fuzz is a color that fits our current times, reflecting the basic needs and desires of humanity during these challenging moments.
Eiseman told TIME magazine: “As we enter 2024, it becomes particularly clear to us that the concept of lifestyle carries new meaning. We are living in a chaotic time in many aspects of life, and thus, our need to nurture, empathize, and show compassion continues to grow stronger as we envision a more peaceful future.”
This color has been chosen by many stars over the past year.
Eiseman pointed out that the subtle shades prompt viewers to connect with human experiences, emphasizing the importance of health and wellness for the mind, body, and spirit. From the warm hues of dawn or dusk to the coziness of a wool blanket, the color affirms moments of inner tranquility with a deep need for community, gathering, and connection.
For Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Institute, this year’s color selection is particularly significant as it marks the 25th anniversary of Pantone’s Color of the Year program. According to Pressman, choosing a color that represents human connection not only symbolizes this year but also aligns with the overarching goal of the program itself.
Pantone 18-1750 “Viva Magenta” was honored as the Color of the Year 2023. According to the company, Peach Fuzz is a natural progression from last year’s vibrant red-pink hue, which was described as “brave and fearless.”
Pressman explained: “Our Color of the Year 2024 reflects an evolution from last year’s color rather than a stark departure.”
Peach Fuzz is a color that suits our current times.
The vice president noted that in a time when focusing on our collective physical and mental health is crucial, Peach Fuzz encapsulates a strong sense of community awareness.
She stated: “It is a color that has the ability to nurture and the warmth that brings people together and evokes a sense of touch.”
The Pantone Color of the Year is a color we see throughout all areas of design – a color that reflects the mood and attitudes of consumers, a color that will resonate worldwide, a color that reflects what people are searching for and what they feel they need that color can hope to answer,” Pressman concluded.
