Paris Mayor Bertrand Delanoe announced on July 5 that the entire “City of Lights” will be covered by Wi-Fi by the end of next year.
Additionally, according to Bertrand Delanoe, companies installing fiber optic cables in the city will receive tax reductions. Paris hopes to have around 80% of the city covered by fiber optic networks by the end of this decade.
Access to Wi-Fi in Paris will be entirely free and maintained by private companies. Access points will be located in public areas and libraries.
Next weekend, the project for the complete construction of the Wi-Fi network in Paris will be approved for the final time.
