On November 7, Nguyen Huy Coi, Director of the Bac Giang Department of Health, reported that after four days without fever, patient T.T.H., suspected of being infected with the H5N1 virus in Bac Giang, has exhibited a high fever again. The patient’s temperature was recorded at 38.5 degrees Celsius. Immediately, this patient was transferred from Bac Giang to the Institute of Tropical Medicine (Bach Mai Hospital) in Hanoi for monitoring.
The resurgence of high fever disrupted the initial plan to discharge patient T.T.H. on November 7. Previously, on the afternoon of November 3, patient T.T.H. was admitted to Bac Giang General Hospital with symptoms of high fever and difficulty breathing. This patient is seven months pregnant and resides in Viet Yen district, which has recently been declared a disease outbreak area by Bac Giang Province.

After being hospitalized, T.T.H. was suspected of being infected with the H5N1 virus and was placed in isolation treatment in the infectious disease department, with samples sent to Hanoi for testing. However, the results of two blood tests for this patient were both negative, and T.T.H. showed signs of recovery, leading doctors to plan for discharge.
It is known that prior to hospitalization, T.T.H. had a flock of ducks that died under unclear circumstances at home. Meanwhile, in Viet Yen and Yen Dung districts, where T.T.H.’s family resides, the flu outbreak has resulted in the illness and death of over 3,000 poultry.
After being transferred to the Institute of Tropical Medicine, patient T.T.H. will be closely monitored for symptoms related to the A/H5N1 flu. As of November 7, Vietnam has recorded its first confirmed case of H5N1 during this outbreak season. This case involves a 35-year-old man from O Cho Dua Ward, Dong Da District, who passed away on October 29.
