After extensive research, Khanh Hoa Bird’s Nest Company has successfully completed a scientific project to enhance the artificial incubation process and raise baby swallows indoors.
The baby swallows are hatched from incubators rather than from their mothers, marking the beginning of a challenging period for caring for the chicks. This includes ensuring a stable living environment and maintaining a strict feeding schedule. It requires workers and technicians to perform their tasks with precision, meticulousness, and a high level of scientific knowledge.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a Bachelor of Biology at Khanh Hoa Bird’s Nest Company, shared, “To care for the birds effectively, we must first rely on their biological characteristics. Through observation, we can determine when the mother birds typically feed their chicks, allowing us to create a feeding schedule. When the chicks are young, their nutritional needs are very high, and they consume a lot of food. We use this information to calculate appropriate feeding portions and frequency.”
With the technology for hatching chicks developed by the company’s engineers, the hatching rate has reached nearly 78.5%, and the success rate of raising the chicks exceeds 28%.
Not only has the company succeeded in artificial incubation technology, but it has also developed a machine for raising baby swallows for the first time. Thus, two out of the three stages of raising swallows indoors for nest collection in Vietnam have been resolved. In the near future, mature swallows will be introduced into the swallow house for breeding.
