Utilizing the island’s waste, the proposed biogas plant and gas incineration system will generate two products: electricity and organic fertilizer.
Since Phú Quốc is an island district, connecting it to the national power grid poses significant challenges.
Currently, the government subsidizes approximately 23 billion VND in electricity costs for Phú Quốc each year, while the investment required for a waste-to-energy power plant is around 2.5 million euros (equivalent to 50 billion VND).
With over 15,000 tons of waste generated on the island annually, failure to implement timely waste management solutions poses a serious risk of environmental pollution, which could adversely affect tourism development.
Therefore, establishing a waste-to-energy power plant in Phú Quốc Island district is not only necessary but also highly feasible.
