Memory cards are becoming smaller in size but larger in storage capacity. In line with this trend, electronics company Pretec is proving its ability to stay ahead of the curve in the development of memory cards for mobile devices by announcing the launch of the miniSD 2 GB card, which boasts the largest storage capacity among current miniSD formats on the market.
Pretec is also the company that revamped the MMC 4.0 memory card in 2004 and released the world’s first 4 GB SD card in July 2005.
The increase in storage capacity will allow mobile phone users compatible with external miniSD cards, such as Motorola mobile phones, to store over 500 MP3 songs and more than 4,000 photos. This is truly fantastic for mobile phone users, smartphones, and PDAs who use their devices as portable MP3 players to enjoy an incredible music library.
Pretec’s 4 GB SD card will be available at retail outlets like Fry’s and Radio Shack during the Christmas season, priced at $299. However, the company has yet to announce the price and release date for the miniSD 2 GB card.
