HP Color LaserJet 4600 |
HP has issued a warning about a serious security vulnerability found in the utility software of two color printer models: the Color LaserJet 2500 and Color LaserJet 4600. This vulnerability could allow hackers to gain control over the system.
The security flaw in this utility software allows attackers to read documents during the transmission to the printer, particularly for networked printers. Additionally, it enables attackers to penetrate Windows operating systems.
This vulnerability was discovered by security expert Richard Horsman, who announced it on the website Sec-1.com. Fortunately, Horsman has not yet disclosed specific details about the security flaw.
HP officials have acknowledged the existence of this security vulnerability and recommend that owners of the Color LaserJet 2500 and Color LaserJet 4600 printers immediately update to the latest version of the utility software available on HP’s website.
