The second supermoon appears in August, and it has an extraordinary blue hue, creating a phenomenon that is so rare it won’t be seen again until January 2037.
This August is indeed a special month for sky enthusiasts like us, as it features a series of memorable astronomical events. Over the past few days, social media has been buzzing with excitement about this fascinating celestial event: the Blue Supermoon.
A blue moon is defined as the second full moon occurring within a single month. At this time, the moon will be at its closest point to Earth, appearing slightly larger and brighter than usual. This is the second of three supermoons in 2023. Previously, the first supermoon of August occurred on the night of August 1 into the early hours of August 2, known as the Sturgeon Moon or Green Corn Moon.
