A stamp series featuring various species of pheasants will be released by the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam in collaboration with BirdLife International (a global network of conservation organizations active in over 100 countries) on April 1, 2006.
Each stamp released will showcase the emblem of BirdLife International, featuring five species of pheasants currently found in Vietnam that are at risk of extinction: the Red-crowned Pheasant (Arborophila davidi), the White-crested Kalij Pheasant (Lophura edwardsi), the White-tailed Pheasant (Lophura hatinhensis), the Germain’s Peacock-Pheasant (Polyplectron germaini), and the Vietnamese Peafowl (Rheinardia ocellata).
