Yesterday (March 16), the South Korean Ministry of Health revoked the research license of the world-renowned cloning scientist Hwang Woo-suk. However, the investigation is still ongoing.
As of now, the investigation into the scandals surrounding the issues of falsification and scientific fabrication involving the South Korean government and scientist Hwang Woo-suk has not concluded.
Despite this, the South Korean Ministry of Health has decided to revoke this scientist’s research license to ensure stricter oversight of the stem cell research sector.
South Korea has been striving to become a global hub for stem cell technology; thus, the revocation of Hwang’s license and the closure of his laboratory indicates that the country will intensify its regulation in the field of scientific research.
