Robots for counter-terrorism, underwater rescue, X-ray detection, or playing the harp… recently showcased impressive performances at the Shanghai International Industrial Fair, which opened today, November 4th.
“Many technologies exhibited at this year’s fair are very practical and user-friendly, catering to family needs,” said Lu Xiaochun, Vice President of the Shanghai Association for Science and Technology.
The highlight of this year’s fair is a range of counter-terrorism products manufactured in China that can detect and neutralize explosives, performing dangerous tasks for the Public Security Bureau.
For instance, a bomb disposal robot created by a Guangzhou-based robotics company resembles a small tank. It weighs twice as much as a young adult but can “move” at a maximum speed of 30 meters per second, significantly faster than a human.
Deng Lixin, the director of the robotics exhibition, stated: “This robot can disable explosives remotely from several hundred meters away.” After numerous tests, this robot has demonstrated the ability to neutralize nearly all types of explosives.
Meanwhile, a lifting robot equipped with a specially designed crane and tracks can reach a height of 2 meters and lift a load of 15 kg. Other robots showcased the ability to play the harp or violin.
Additionally, many other technologies were introduced at this fair, such as explosive analysis robots, underwater rescue robots, X-ray detection robots, solar-powered heating and lighting systems, a traffic information system providing quick updates via global positioning systems, and various other software applications…
