On July 3, 2006, with the aim of assisting patients in moving around the hospital and helping those with disabilities, the Rotary Australia organization donated 40 wheelchairs to Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Danny Low, the Regional Director of Rotary, stated: “The average cost of each wheelchair is between 65 to 70 USD, contributed by generous Australian donors and Vietnamese Australians.”
According to Mr. Danny Low, Cho Ray Hospital is the first facility to receive wheelchairs, followed by neighboring provinces and the Vietnam Charity Association for the Disabled and Orphaned Children. From now until July 14, 2006, Rotary will donate a total of 252 wheelchairs valued at 14,000 USD.
