A writer had a very foolish servant. One day, while the writer was busy working on a new book, the servant burst into the room. He shouted loudly:
– Fire! Fire! The kitchen is on fire.
The writer immediately got up and ran with the servant to the kitchen. There was a fire burning near the stove because the servant had placed firewood too close to it, and the wood was ablaze. However, there was also a large pot of water sitting beside the stove.
The writer said:
– You are really foolish. Why didn’t you throw that pot of water on the burning wood? You could have extinguished the fire quickly.
The servant replied:
– That’s not possible, sir; the water is useless because it is hot water.
