According to reports from Moscow, on December 4, the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) successfully launched the Soyuz-2.1b rocket from Plesetsk spaceport.
The launch occurred at 20:59 (Moscow time) from the Russian Ministry of Defense’s national test spaceport in Arkhangelsk Province. The Soyuz-2.1b rocket successfully carried a military satellite into space.
The day prior, during a joint exercise, the Russian Navy and Aerospace Forces (VKS) also launched missiles from the sea and air with high precision in the eastern Mediterranean.
The Soyuz-2.1b rocket was developed and produced by the Progress Rocket and Space Center in Samara.
This type of rocket is used to launch both military and civilian spacecraft, including commercial satellites. It is also the rocket that deployed the GLONASS navigation system into orbit.
