Yesterday morning (April 13), in Hà Tây, the Military Medical Department and the Military Medical Academy held a scientific conference on tropical diseases. The conference aimed to exchange expertise and provide useful information for the prevention of tropical disease outbreaks.
Due to the nature of their tasks, military units operate in a wide and diverse range of areas, most of which are located in regions prone to natural disease outbreaks, particularly with some new diseases emerging within the military.
Numerous papers were presented by scientists in a timely manner, offering effective treatment directions tailored to the conditions of each area. The topics that were most frequently discussed included malaria, typhoid fever, and various infectious diseases. Papers on malaria and its sources accounted for nearly one-third of all the presentations.
According to reports, although malaria has been controlled, drug resistance remains an issue. Doctors are now required to research and propose new treatment regimens that are suitable for the characteristics of each region. Some scientists have also praised the effectiveness of the model combining military and civilian healthcare in malaria prevention at border guard stations and local communities in border areas, which has proven to be highly effective in disease prevention.
