Soon, men may be able to use hormonal contraceptive pills to stop sperm production without worry, as a recent study has found that this therapy is fully reversible.

The study conducted by the ANZAC Institute in Australia found that men using androgen therapy (male hormones) were able to recover their sperm production after stopping treatment.
The research involved 1,500 men aged between 18 and 51 from the mid-1990s to 2005. The average time for sperm recovery was 3 to 4 months. Recovery was faster in older men, those of Asian descent, individuals who had shorter hormone usage, and those who initially had higher sperm density. A common factor among all these individuals was that their sperm reproductive capability reached the level necessary for conception.
Currently, contraceptive options for men are limited to condoms, vasectomy, and withdrawal methods. For many couples, these solutions are often unsatisfactory due to their lower effectiveness or difficulty in reversal, as seen with vasectomy.
