Ancestry.com, a website specializing in genealogy and U.S. population statistics, has recently completed the digitization of the entire U.S. population statistics from 1790 to 1930, totaling 5 billion names entered into the database.
The entire team at Ancestry.com had to use a total of 6.6 billion hours of labor to research and enter data from 13 million archival documents concerning demographics and household records that U.S. archives have maintained since the founding of the nation.
Tim Sullivan, CEO of Ancestry.com, stated: ”We consulted millions of sources around the world before building this massive project. Through the simple yet highly effective search tools on Ancestry.com, people can discover many fascinating stories.”
The website Ancestry.com is designed specifically for Americans of immigrant descent from various countries worldwide. Meanwhile, the site www.ancestry.co.uk caters to native English residents with comprehensive population statistics from all regions of England since the early 18th century.
The information search tool on Ancestry.com is highly detailed. Users in the U.S. and the U.K. can search for someone’s name based on first name, birth year, death year, country of immigration, state of residence, city, county, etc. By simply typing a common Vietnamese surname, such as NGUYEN, you can uncover numerous Vietnamese individuals with the surname Nguyen who have passed away in the U.S. or the U.K.
The website Ancestry.com will offer free access to all users for half a month starting from June 26, after which a subscription fee will be implemented at a rate of $12.95 per month for annual members and $29.95 per month for monthly members.
