This system, named “Trace Finder“, utilizes satellite technology known as Global Positioning System (GPS) and GSM mobile phone networks, operating through a tracking device installed on mobile phones.
Once users subscribe to the service, signals from their loved ones’ mobile phones will appear on a screen at the operations center. To locate the owner of the phone, customers simply need to call the operations center of Cisco, the service provider. This new service has gained support from parents in Singapore as it alleviates some of their anxiety regarding their children’s activities.
With the growing popularity of “remote tracking” technology, Singapore residents can also keep track of household happenings through a system that includes cameras, broadband Internet, 3G mobile phones, and a fee of $10 per month. Business owners can travel freely while still being aware of whether their employees are online or chatting on the phone.
