Canadian researchers have indicated that sleep deprivation makes individuals more irritable towards colleagues or family members. The study results show that men are more likely to take out their frustrations on their coworkers due to lack of sleep, while women tend to vent their anger within their families.
Additionally, sleep-deprived individuals tend to be less effective at work compared to others. The average duration of a full night’s sleep is 7-8 hours, but it appears that few adults achieve this due to both subjective and objective reasons.
The accumulation of sleep deprivation builds up day by day, and people often tell themselves they will “catch up” on sleep over the weekend. However, doctors warn that a long sleep on the weekend cannot compensate for the health toll taken during the week due to a stressful and unscientific lifestyle.
