A Cobra Nearly Lost Its Life After Mistaking a Plastic Bottle for Food
Parveen Kaswan, an officer from the Forestry Agency, shared a clip showing a cobra writhing on the ground with a swollen belly, alarming viewers.
The snake writhing in pain after getting its head stuck in a bottle.
A man then used a long stick to gently poke the snake’s body to encourage it to regurgitate the plastic bottle inside.
According to Kaswan, this clip highlights the dangers of plastic pollution to wildlife. He added that the cobra was able to survive thanks to its ability to vomit large objects. However, other animal species may not be so lucky and could suffer a painful death.
Indian Cobra, scientifically known as Naja naja, is primarily distributed in the Indian subcontinent and is part of the “big four” venomous snakes.
They typically feed on rodents, toads, frogs, birds, and other snakes. Their diet of rodents often leads them into human habitats, including farms and suburban areas. The venom of the king cobra contains neurotoxins and compounds harmful to the heart.
