Currently, Vietnam has over 600 companies engaged in software outsourcing, employing approximately 15,000 engineers and technicians. |
In 2004, the total value of outsourced software in Vietnam was USD 170 million, of which USD 45 million came from exports.
According to the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO), Vietnam is one of the 25 most attractive countries in the world for software outsourcing.
In markets such as the United States, Hungary, and particularly Japan, the reputation of Vietnamese software companies is steadily rising, ranking just behind companies from China, India, and South Korea.
Currently, around 80% to 90% of the revenue for many Vietnamese software companies is primarily derived from exports.
Vietnam has over 600 software outsourcing companies with approximately 15,000 engineers and technicians. Many Vietnamese companies have been awarded international certifications for software development, with two companies, FPT and PSV, achieving the highest CMM certification level – CMM 5.
Additionally, Vietnam has established the Quang Trung Software Park – the first software production center in the country – located in Ho Chi Minh City.
Since its official operation began in March 2001, the Quang Trung Software Park has attracted 69 units for investment, including several foreign investors.
Along with expanding relationships to seek clients, software companies have consistently focused on developing and enhancing the quality of their human resources. Hundreds of software engineers have been sent to Japan for training under the AOTS scholarship program and other software quality management training programs.
This year alone, 100 software engineers from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have participated in software outsourcing skill training courses taught by Japanese software experts.
