This is the “Twisted-neck Bird.” When faced with danger, it twists its neck and produces a sound similar to a snake’s hiss.
This bird belongs to the woodpecker family and is found in most parts of the world.
Whenever it encounters danger, it does not fly away but instead flips its head backward and simultaneously hisses like a snake.
According to observations, whenever this bird is seen, it is often mimicking a snake.
Although it belongs to the woodpecker family, this bird does not have the habit of pecking at tree trunks but still enjoys eating ants and insects due to its relatively weak beak.
Nonetheless, the Twisted-neck Bird only forages for ants on the ground, and thanks to its very long tongue, it can reach into ant nests.
The Twisted-neck Bird often hides in tree hollows and hisses like a snake to scare off any approaching enemies.
