The “Legend” of the Bermuda Triangle has been passed down for decades, with over 50 ships and 20 aircraft mysteriously disappearing in this area.
The area known as the Bermuda Triangle is located in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean. The three points of this triangle lead to Miami, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico.
More than 50 ships and 20 aircraft have vanished in this region. The most notable incident is the mysterious disappearance of “Flight 19,” according to Newsweek.

“Flight 19” was the mission name for a group of five torpedo bombers from the U.S. Navy. All five planes disappeared mysteriously while flying over the Bermuda Triangle in 1945. The wreckage of the bombers has never been found, and the reason for their disappearance remains a mystery for many years.
Recently, Canadian historian David O’Keefe joined a team in this area to search for a plane shot down during World War II for a new documentary about the Bermuda Triangle: “Into the Cursed Waters.”
Strange Events Continue to Occur
Mr. O’Keefe stated: “According to data, ship sinkings and aircraft disappearances continue. However, we now have a better understanding of this area.”
The sensationalism surrounding the Bermuda Triangle seems to have waned, at least for the time being.
One theory suggests that this area experiences severe storms coming from multiple directions. This could create monstrous waves, some believe could reach over 30 meters high.
Currently, wreckage from “Flight 19” has been found in the area. While the new documentary is being filmed, Mr. O’Keefe, along with a team led by marine biologist Mike Barnette, discovered a large piece of debris from the Challenger space shuttle that exploded in 1986 at a site near the triangle.
The Challenger shuttle exploded 73 seconds after launch. All 7 crew members on board perished when the shuttle broke apart at an altitude of 14,000 meters over the Atlantic Ocean.
Mr. O’Keefe remarked: “This discovery was shocking. We never imagined that tracking the story of ‘Flight 19’ would lead us to such a significant finding for American history and the space program.”
This discovery proves that there are still many mysteries to investigate off the coast of Florida stretching into the Atlantic.
Is the Bermuda Triangle Dangerous?
Despite the superstitions and stories surrounding the Bermuda Triangle, there is no concrete evidence to suggest that this area is truly dangerous.
The Aviation Safety Network and the U.S. Coast Guard have pointed out for many years that some disappearances can be attributed to storm conditions in the area.
Other disappearances remain speculative, but ships may not be safe. This means the Bermuda Triangle has nothing to do with what has occurred.
“Like human nature, whenever we cannot find answers to certain questions, we will open the Pandora’s box of theories to satisfy our intellectual curiosity,” Mr. O’Keefe said.
He added that the goal of the documentary is to identify and name some of the hundreds of shipwreck sites in the Bermuda Triangle and to “bring comfort to families who have lost loved ones without understanding why.”
