The melting and cracking ice creates sounds resembling singing at Laguna del Maule in central Chile.
Earlier this week, Central Oregon Daily News reported that Laguna del Maule in central Chile seems to be “singing” due to the emergence of strange sounds.
These “singing” sounds are produced as ice sheets on the surface of the lake begin to melt due to wind and other catalysts, causing the ice to crack and generate these sounds.
According to experts, the phenomenon of the “singing lake” is not new and often occurs in regions of Europe and North America. However, this phenomenon is quite rare in Chile.
