Recently, the account @TheBrutalNature posted a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showcasing the powerful bite force of the Piranha fish.
The video features an aquarium with a Piranha and an eel swimming together. In an instant, the Piranha lunges forward and, with just a few bites, it slices the eel in half.
The Piranha lunged forward and with just a few bites, it sliced the eel in half.
The video quickly attracted attention from internet users, with many expressing astonishment at the strength of the Piranha.
The Piranha is a ferocious predatory fish, native to South America. Known for its razor-sharp jaws that can tear through flesh in an instant, the Piranha is also referred to as “saber-toothed fish.”
A group of experts conducted an experiment with 15 specimens of Piranha measuring 20-37 cm in length. The results showed that the biting force of the black Piranha was measured at approximately 320N (1 Newton is the force applied to an object with a mass of 1 kg accelerating at 1 m/s2), nearly three times that of the biting force of American alligators.
