If passengers do not choose the right sleeping time, they may feel fatigued and encounter unnecessary issues during their flight.
On Reddit, a user shared a story about falling asleep and missing meal service on their flight that day. This user questioned whether it was reasonable for the flight attendants to overlook them and not wake them up.

“Surveys have shown that more than half of passengers genuinely want to rest,” commented one user.
Some flight attendants also noted that passengers can request meals when they wake up, and some airlines have policies that prohibit them from disturbing customers.
“In business class, passengers will be asked by the attendants if they need to be awakened when it’s mealtime,” shared a flight attendant.
To address this issue, some airlines have provided additional “Do Not Disturb” stickers for passengers who wish to rest during the flight.
For flights longer than 5 hours that depart in the evening, meals are served immediately after takeoff. Once the meal service ends, all lights on the plane will be turned off to allow passengers to rest comfortably.
Additionally, some airlines conduct surveys indicating that passengers often feel fatigued and experience jet lag on flights where the departure and arrival times are in different time zones.
On such flights, passengers will be provided with a color-coded chart of time zones and optimal times for resting and eating to help ensure alertness and comfort upon landing.
According to some flight attendants, the best way to both rest and enjoy a meal is for passengers to proactively inform them of their needs.
